The Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts first opened in February 1926 and owes its distinctive character to architect John Eberson, the master of “atmospheric” theater design. It is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has featured cultural icons such as Elvis Presley, Sarah Vaughan and Luciano Pavarotti. The Olympia Theater is also home to the Maximum Dance Company, Florida Philharmonic and the Miami International Film Festival.
